Angkor Wat Motorcycle Tour

NW to Angkor

Phnom Penh – Kirirom – Chiphat – Koh Kong – Promoy – Battambang – Siem Reap

No journey to Cambodia is complete without a visit to Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world. Ride north from the capital city of Phnom Penh, through rainforests, over mountains and across rivers, and explore some of the remotest parts of this fascinating country.

Overview

Itinerary

Day 1: Phnom Penh – Kirirom

Begin your adventure by riding west out of Phnom Penh to Kirirom National Park. There are some fun trails on the way down, and the park itself is home to a variety of local wildlife, a huge pine forest and some gorgeous waterfalls.
The Cardamom Mountains are largely covered in dense tropical rainforest, and are sparsely populated. The eastern slopes, however, are home to a number of cardamom and pepper farms. Test your riding skills on the rocky forest trails that snake through the region before spending the evening in Chiphat Eco-Village.
There’s some great riding to be had as you make your way west through the Cardamom Mountains on your way to Koh Kong. Until recently, this area was famous for being one of the most lawless parts of Cambodia—the Khmer Rouge are said to have been active there until as late as 1998—but the construction of a massive bridge over Kaoh Pao River that connects the country with Thailand has led to something of a rejuvenation.
Head north, again through the jungles of the Cardamom Mountains, on your way to Promoy, a small town on the banks of the Pursat River. This is the greenest part of Cambodia, and there are roads here where you may not see another person for miles.
As you approach Battambang the mountains give way to flatlands, full of rice fields and small Buddhist temples. Once an important trading town, Battambang remains our favourite city in Cambodia after, naturally, Siem Reap.
The main road from Battambang to Siem Reap is fast, but, depending on the season, we may be able to explore some rice fields and paddocks and test our skills off road. Siem Reap itself is has some fantastic restaurants, and the Angkor museum is definitely worth a visit in preparation for Angkor Wat.

NW to Angkor FAQ

For our Cambodia tours, we use the Honda CRF250. With a lot of off-road riding through jungle trails, dirt roads, and remote villages, this bike is purpose-built for the terrain. It’s lightweight, reliable, and handles tough conditions with ease, making it the perfect choice for the kind of adventure Cambodia offers.

The best time to ride in Cambodia is between November and April, when the weather is dry and the trails are in great condition. Avoid the wet season (May to October), when heavy rains can flood roads and make off-road sections tricky.

Key highlights include exploring the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex, riding through dense rainforests, crossing scenic mountain passes and rivers, and discovering some of Cambodia’s most remote and untouched landscapes. This tour combines cultural wonder with adventurous off-road riding deep into the country’s wild heart.

While helpful, it’s not always mandatory. Our tours are designed to accommodate different skill levels, with support and guidance provided throughout.

We have a selection of gloves, helmets and jackets however we strongly encourage riders to bring their own gear to ensure the most comfortable possible riding experience.

Guides typically English and are knowledgeable about local culture and terrain to assist you throughout the tour.
