Overview

Itinerary

Day 1: Phnom Penh – Kep

Leave the capital behind and ride south into open farmland and quiet villages, where red dirt tracks wind through rice fields and palm groves. The road leads to Kampot’s colonial streets before finishing in the coastal town of Kep — a laid-back spot to relax for the evening.
The ride cuts inland through lush countryside towards Kampot’s famed pepper plantations, with a stop to see how the region’s world-class spice is grown and harvested before pushing on to Bokor Hill Mountain — a haunting colonial outpost perched at 1,100m. Shrouded in mist and history, the plateau offers cool air, sweeping views, and crumbling remnants of a forgotten era.
The route heads north into the lush fringes of the Cardamom Mountains, one of Southeast Asia’s last great wildernesses. The road traces the edge of the Gulf of Thailand before veering inland toward Koh Kong, gateway to the jungle. A longboat awaits on the Tatai River, gliding through rainforest-covered banks to a secluded jungle lodge tucked deep in the trees.
The jungle here in the Cardamom Mountains is so dense that logging has never taken hold, leaving behind pristine rainforest and a patchwork of wildlife sanctuaries. The route winds through deep forest and isolated villages before arriving in O’soam, a small mountain commune surrounded by nature. Accommodation is simple, traditional, and deeply connected to local life.
The ride continues east through the scenic backroads of the Cardamom Mountains, passing isolated villages and lush, forested valleys. Descending into the plains, the route leads to Pursat—a riverside town known for its quiet charm. Set along the banks of the Tonle Sap River, it’s a slice of authentic Cambodia, with local markets, pagodas, and a slower pace that contrasts the wild terrain of the days before.
Ride north through quiet villages and rice fields, crossing small rivers and streams on the way to Battambang, a vibrant city on the Sangker River which offers charming French colonial architecture and lively night markets. It is also home to the Killing Caves of Phnom Sampeau. Visit in the late afternoon to witness thousands of bats take flight at dusk—an unforgettable natural spectacle.
The final stretch leads to Siem Reap, gateway to the legendary Angkor Wat temples. Arrive with time to explore these ancient wonders bathed in the golden light of afternoon and dusk — a breathtaking finale to the journey.

Coast to Kingdom FAQ

For our Cambodia tours, we use the Honda CRF250. With a lot of off-road riding through jungle trails, dirt roads, and remote villages, this bike is purpose-built for the terrain. It’s lightweight, reliable, and handles tough conditions with ease, making it the perfect choice for the kind of adventure Cambodia offers.

The best time to ride in Cambodia is between November and April, when the weather is dry and the trails are in great condition. Avoid the wet season (May to October), when heavy rains can flood roads and make off-road sections tricky.

Key highlights include riding through the remote Cardamom Mountains, navigating jungle rivers, and passing through timeless villages untouched by modern life. You’ll also explore charming colonial-era towns and forgotten hill stations, making for an authentic and adventurous journey deep into Cambodia’s wild interior.

While helpful, it’s not always mandatory. Our tours are designed to accommodate different skill levels, with support and guidance provided throughout. We just ask that you be very clear about what experience you have so that we can plan the route accordingly.

We have a selection of gloves, helmets and jackets however we strongly encourage riders to bring their own gear to ensure the most comfortable possible riding experience.

Guides speak English and are knowledgeable about local culture and terrain to assist you throughout the tour.
