The Honda XR150
is our most popular touring rental by far. Why is this? We think it is because it is an easy bike to drive, it is capable of handling 99% of the roads you might stumble across in Vietnam and it is really great value for money. You can see the Honda XR150 on our site.
Now that they have become common throughout the country the local mechanics no longer shake their heads and tell you they can’t fix them. They have realised that Honda’s smart move of creating part duplicity, where the same parts are used on several models of bike, means that they can often fix your bike. Also, it is now easier to get parts in general.
Not that you will need anything when you rent from us because we check and double check the bikes so that you don’t have any issues. However, accidents do happen. We understand that, so…
Cost
We rent the XR150 for 20usd per day. We discount this every 7th day so for 7 days you pay for 6 (120usd). We then give a further long term discount of every 4th week, so for 4 weeks you only pay for 3 (360usd).
If you travel one-way between our shops in Hanoi, Danang or HCMC there is a 75usd transport fee which is just enough to get the bike back to origin. Unfortunately, we do not yet have enough traffic to waive this fee as much as we would like to.

About the Honda XR150
The XR150 is a 150cc/ 12hp dual sport bike, legal for road use. It has mirrors, a headlight, indicators, brake lights… everything you need to be road legal. She is fairly capable off-road, too.
The ground clearance is 24cm which is pretty good and also very useful in the city if you want to get up/down tall kerbs.
The seat height is 82cm which is not too high and most people find they can get on her easily. I am 1m65 and have no problems at all.
The seat itself is a little wide which some people complain about and it does mean it is a little harder to reach the floor.
However, being very light at only 129kg dry she is quite easy to keep steady.
How we Upgrade the XR150
There are several modifications that we make to our bikes before we let them out of the door for a tour or rental. We believe that they make the bikes both more comfortable and safer.
- Install a Phone Holder - for navigation
- Use Knobbly Tyres for more grip in the dirt
- Extend the Rear Rack - to make it easer to carry luggage
- Install a USB Charger - to power phone/charge batteries
- Add Handlebar Risers -for comfort on long drives and when on peg
- Add a Handlebar Brace - to reduce vibration, fit a GoPro
- Shorten the Rear Mudflap - to stop no. plate catching in rear wheel
None of these modifications are strictly necessary but we carry them out because we feel that it improves the quality of the bike and the rental which then means you get a better experience. You can see more detail in our blog on 7 superb mods for the Honda XR150.
