FAQ

Our Tourist Rental package is our most popular offering. There is no mileage limit, no minimum rental period, and you’re free to ride wherever you like!

Our One-Way Rental package is identical to our Tourist Rental package except, for an additional charge of either $75, $100 or $200 (dependent on size of motorcycle) you’re free to begin and end your rental in different cities.

We have shops in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City.

Our Expat Rental package is designed for riders who are living and working in Vietnam. It’s a highly cost-effective way of getting around.

Expat Rentals are subject to:

  • a minimum rental period of 2 months,
  • a mileage limit of 1,000 km per month
  • and you’re limited to the city in which you rented your motorcycle and its immediate vicinity.

You can enquire right here on the website, and we’ll get back you you within 24 hours to confirm. Alternatively, you can email us at rentals@rentabikevn.com.

Please note that your booking is not complete until it’s been confirmed. While we try our best to fulfil all rental enquiries, our stock is limited. Before confirming your rental, we need to make sure the motorcycle you want is available and in perfect condition!

Of course! Just select how many you’d like on our booking form.

Of course! Our online booking system makes it easy to book multiple motorcycles of the same type. If you’d like to book multiple motorcycles of different types, however, the easiest way is simply to book them separately.

The Damage Waiver, available for Tourist and One-Way Rentals, covers any and all damage to your motorcycle.

It does not cover:

  • 3rd party damages;
  • loss or theft;
  • repair of flat tyres or (additional) oil changes;
  • loss of spare parts, such as inner tubes;
  • damage through flooding, fire damage, vandalism or natural disasters;
  • personal injury or loss of personal belongings;
  • transport of your motorcycle to our office should you crash the bike and it becomes unrideable.

Disclaimers:

  • The Damage Waiver is non-refundable.
  • The Damage Waiver is only valid if you inform us first, before having repairs carried out while on the road.
  • If you do not return your motorcycle to us, it will be consider lost or stolen. The Damage Waiver will not be applied you will be liable for the value of the stolen motorbike.

Yes, each bike comes with a helmet, and we have a good selection for you to choose from.

Bear in mind, though, that these are locally made helmets: while they will offer some protection in the event of an accident, and enable you to ride legally, they’re not up to the same standards as the ones you might find back home.

Yes, many of the bikes we rent out for touring are equipped with luggage racks. Let us know if you need one!

Yes, we’ll be happy show you how your bike works, and take the time to help you get used to riding, free of charge. While this isn’t any substitute for formal training, we find most customers can acquire the skills needed to stay safe on the roads quite quickly.

Yes, we accept all major cards. If you decide to pay by card, though, please keep in mind:

  • banks charge a fee of about 3-5% per transaction
  • we are unable to ‘block’ a credit card—we have to charge it
  • we can’t refund to a card—we can only refund in cash
  • and we are credited in VND (Vietnamese Dong), so we will refund you in VND.

Yes, we accept payments by bank transfer. Additionally, if you have a UK bank account you can transfer funds to our UK account with no extra fees!

Yes, we require a deposit on all motorbike rentals. This varies depending on which rental package you choose.

For Tourist Rentals, we require a deposit of either $500 or your passport.

For One-Way Rentals, we require a deposit of $500. We don’t accept passports as deposits for One-Way Rentals because there’s no easy way to return your passport to you when you drop your motorcycle off in another city.

For Expat Rentals, all we require is one month’s rental fee.

Bear in mind that if you leave your passport with us as a deposit, it must be valid and contain the visa with which you entered Vietnam. Many of our customers prefer doing things this way and, so long as you keep a photocopy or a photo of it when you’re travelling, you’ll have no problem checking in to hotels.

No, you’re welcome to pay your deposit in cash, or by card or bank transfer.

If you do pay in cash, we even accept all major currencies (since we’re going to return it anyway when you return your motorcycle)!

We don’t require a deposit for online bookings, so you’re welcome just to leave the deposit with us when you pick up your bike!

Sure, our number’s (+84) 904 392 423. If you have any problems give us a call and we’ll do whatever we can to help, whether it be with directions, translations or negotiating prices.

If Vietnam is listed on your permit then, yes, it should be. But IDPs are a bit of a grey area here since some police officers seem not to accept them. In any case, foreigners are rarely stopped by traffic police here.

When you stop, TAKE THE KEYS OUT OF YOUR BIKE. Smile and be polite, and show but don’t hand over whatever documents they request. If you’re worried about anything, take out your phone and start recording: legitimate police shouldn’t have a problem with this.

A blue card is a registration document that shows who a bike is owned by, and serves as proof of ownership. If you’re riding one of our bikes and the police request one from you, just give us a call and we’ll let them know it’s one of ours.
